Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung für Fortgeschrittene - Lecture

Course information In this course, the topic is the use and reflection of scientific methods. The focus lies on quantitative methods of social science research. In this course you will learn both to design empirical research questions from theory and data, and learn to analyze quantitative data using the language R. The aim is to understand when to apply which method. How to apply them correctly, and how to interpret data from these methods.

Usability, User Diversity und Technikakzeptanz - Seminar

In this course students learn how to apply the methods of empirical research in a self-directed research project. The focus is to integrate user-diversity aspects with usability and technology acceptance in differing topcis. Students may pick their own research question, decide on methods and collect their own data. In several project “pitches” students discuss the topics and their current state of work. Students have to deliver a final presentation and three pitches.

Agent-Based Modeling - Seminar

In this seminar students were introduced to the programming environment NetLogo. Netlogo provides the means for simple agent-based models as well as a complex simulation environment. The task of students was to model the spread of information in different scenarios using agent-based models. As the term paper students have to hand in a model and a analysis using the behavior space tool in netlogo. Video-Lectures for the seminar All videos can be seen in a youtube playlist.
